"As a former large chain hotel housekeeping supervisor, CLEAN is my thing. River Ridge Lodge is so clean it makes AirBNB's sparkling clean rating look dirty. Second thing I always want is a great sleep ... which means a very good mattress and no squeaks! The King size bed was soooo comfy and completely soundless. More, the room was beautifully appointed with just the right amount of functional furniture and special touches, great sheets, big windows, modern yet cozy..."

Bed and Breakfast (often abbreviated as B&B or BnB) is a small lodging establishment that accommodates overnight guests and offers Breakfast. Traditionally Bed and breakfasts are private large family homes with between four and eleven guest rooms. The hosts generally live in the same house. Unlike hotels, B&Bs are usually run by the owners, but it is not uncommon for B&Bs to have a small staff.
A Bed and Breakfast typically offers a quite different type of experience than most hotels, motels or inns. Bed and Breakfasts provide hospitality services on a more personal level. Usually, a smaller number of guests allows the B&B hosts to connect with their guests on a more personal level. Though B&BS retain a sense of privacy, hosts likely develop a closer relationship with their guests. Most Bed and Breakfasts strive to make guests feel at home during their stay. Another difference is that each room at a Bed and Breakfast is unique. Hotel rooms typically have similar layouts and multiple versions of the same room. Further, most hotels typically offer Breakfast at a B&B; Breakfast is usually homemade.
The Property – The 10-acre property with rolling hills and views of the river is unique and picturesque. The property offers many amenities and is a perfect spot for guests that love nature and the outdoors.

Breakfast - Breakfast is optional and customizable. The owners understand that some guests prefer not to be on a schedule, don't usually eat breakfast, are visiting friends or family, and would like to enjoy their breakfast with them.
Family-friendly - River Ridge Lodge has a 2-bedroom family suite and loves children.
Complimentary Bikes & Snowshoes - River Ridge Lodge offers both complimentary bike and snowshoe rentals for their guests' use.
Attentive & Friendly Service – The owners of River Ridge Lodge are happy to make recommendations and reservations for activities and places to eat and drink. Frauke is an enthusiastic concierge, and self-proclaimed ambassador for Mahone Bay, Lunenburg and the Nova Scotia South Shore and gladly helps with trip itinerary planning.
Pets - The owners have a Newfoundland dog and a colour-matching Tuxedo cat on the property. Many guests ask to meet the pets, but if you are allergic or afraid of pets, let them know, and they'll ensure that you won't have to meet them. The pets are only on the owner's premises and not in the B&B part of the house. River Ridge Lodge cannot accommodate guests' pets due to some guests having allergies or fear of dogs or cats.
