Lodge Retreats

Our peaceful  and relaxing space makes River Ridge Lodge the perfect setting to  retreat for self-care. We currently offer grief and stress relief  programs, but  if you don’t see what you’re looking for, let us know and we may be  able to help make arrangements.

With  plenty of indoor and outdoor space, you’ll be assured privacy when you  need it. Perfect  spots for reflection surround you at our dock on the river, trails in  the woods, fields, or the picnic table on the hill. We offer kindness,  space and company if you want it, and would be happy to arrange for  other services such as trauma yoga and massage.  Spending time with Charlie, our gentle giant Newfoundland dog - who’s  140 pounds of pure love - can also be very therapeutic.

Retreat and Relax!

Leave your stress behind with a River Ridge Lodge all-inclusive  weekend retreat. Relax and rejuvenate near iconic Mahone Bay, only an  hour from Halifax. You’ll find comfortable, well-appointed rooms with  all the modern day conveniences, nestled amongst the peaceful, natural  beauty of our forest and pastures. We offer a unique setting,  restorative yoga and delicious home-cooked meals – with just the right  balance of structure, socializing, and freedom. 

All-inclusive  packages start at $259+HST/person, based on four people sharing a  2-bedroom suite. Other rooms are also available (see options below under pricing), so book your 2-night  retreat as a group or come on your own and meet new friends. Frauke and  Tara (owner of Fit Brain) are ready to welcome you to River Ridge Lodge – your stress-free  home for the weekend. The only thing you need to do is pick a date!

Your weekend retreat includes: 

  • 2 nights’ accommodation at River Ridge Lodge 
  • 2 hearty organic breakfasts 
  • 1 light healthy lunch (including vegetarian/vegan options) 
  • 1 scrumptious dinner served with wine and/or beer (meal will be  confirmed once dietary restrictions of the group are considered) 
  • Yoga session with mats and props
  • Session on using essential oils to support emotional health  
  • Access to all amenities and grounds, including covered porch, dock, picnic table, fields and pastures, bicycles and snowshoes 

If  you’re looking for added activity, there’s no shortage of things to do,  with plenty of free time! We can help plan a visit to Mahone Bay, a  guided fishing or kayak trip, or an on-site chair massage. Prefer to  explore the serene trails on your own? Hop on a bike or strap on some  snowshoes – both are complimentary! Or, simply do nothing but relax.  Grab a pillow and blanket to mediate or simply sit on the nice grounds and “just  be”. The choice is yours – it’s your retreat.

Tentative agenda:


After  checking in to accommodation at River Ridge Lodge, we will make plans  as a group or individually for dinner at a nearby restaurant or pub.  Late check-in can be arranged. Later, make yourself comfy in your room  or get together as a group to socialize in the guest lounge or one of  the town’s quaint pubs. 


Start the day  with a delicious breakfast and mingle. After breakfast, join Tara for a  restorative yoga practice. No experience necessary – all abilities will  be honoured.  Enjoy 90 minutes of tranquility, through restorative  poses, supported by props, candles and essential oils*. After enjoy an in-depth session on using essential oils to support emotional health (presented by Fran Dunn). Following this  session of ultimate relaxation, a light lunch will be served, before you  embark on a few hours of free time – filled with activity or complete  relaxation. We’ll then meet back at the Lodge for an evening of  delicious food and drink, and good company. Weather permitting, we can  step outside and continue our night over a roaring bonfire. 


Relax over breakfast and check out at your convenience by noon.

We’re blessed to be collaborating with Hilary Scott of Healing  the Loss, to offer professional individual and small group grief retreats. Our Lodge offers a safe,  contemplative and restorative setting to support your sessions with Hilary.
